IBD pack setup
The inflammatory bowel disease model comprises a fluidic controlling unit (pressure controller, flow sensors, and valves) before the chip that allows high-precision liquid handling. Thus, your cells receive a continuous supply of media and nutrients. At the same time, the addition of immune-relevant cytokine triggers for IBD can be done at the most convenient time through an easily controlled set of valves.
Then, the cytokine release profile over time can be assessed due to a fraction collector connected to the chip outlet. Samples can be automatically collected according to your requirements of time and volume.
The IBD pack typically contains:
Flow sensor (Galileo, MIC)
Software (Galileo user interface)
Automated sampler
Flow controller
3/2 Valves and controller
Microfluidic chip
Falcon reservoirs, connectors, tubing, filters…

Frequently asked questions
What is the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Model?
The Inflammatory Bowel Disease Model is an in vitro platform designed to automatically collect important markers of the inflammatory bowel disease model and follow the cytokine profile over time.
What markers can be analyzed with this model
The IBD model system allows researchers to observe and uncover cytokine profile changes over time.
How to collect samples in the IBD model?
Samples can be automatically collected according to your requirements of time and volume.
Does the IBD model mimic real intestinal conditions?
Yes, the microfluidic platform creates a relevant and controlled microenvironment under flow.
Is the setup sterilizable?
Yes, we have developed a simple protocol for sterilization and cleaning that is provided along with the user guide.
Can the setup be placed inside the CO2 incubator?
The chip with the cells can be kept inside the incubator and the flow sensors as well, after treatment upon demand. The electronics, such as the pressure controller and the collection valves, should be kept outside the CO2 incubator.
Can a pack be customized based on my specific application?
Yes! Our experts will establish which instruments are best suited for your application, such as the type of flow sensor or the number of flow controller channels you need to perform your experiment. Contact us using the “talk to our experts” green button above.
Can I buy individual instruments?
Our instruments are in beta testing phase and can be tested as a pack or individually, so get in contact with our team to know how our beta testing program works.
Funding and Support
The results of the LOCAi, NeuroTrans, and Enhpathy project helped develop this pack.
The LOCAi project has received funding from the French National Research Agency (ANR) and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in the frame of the 1st German-French Joint Call for proposals on Artificial Intelligence.
The European Union’s Horizon 2020 MSCA-ITN has funded the Enhpathy and NeuroTrans projects under grant agreements No. 860002 (ENHPATHY project) and 860954 (NeuroTrans project).

FAQ - Inflammatory Bowel Disease Model
What is the Inflammatory Bowel Disease(IBD) Model?
The Inflammatory Bowel Disease Model is an in vitro platform designed to automatically collect key markers of the inflammatory bowel disease model and track the cytokine profile over time.
How does the system work & track inflammatory biomarkers in IBD?
The Inflammatory Bowel Disease Model system allows researchers to automatically collect time-dependent samples. The inflammatory bowel disease model comprises a fluidic control unit (pressure controller, flow sensors, and valves) upstream of the chip, enabling high-precision liquid handling. Thus, your cells receive a continuous supply of media and nutrients. At the same time, the addition of immune-relevant cytokine triggers for IBD can be done at the most convenient time through an easily controlled set of valves.
How system collect the samples during the experiment?
Samples can be automatically collected by the chip outlet. The system collects the sample according to your requirements of time and volume, enabling time-dependent analysis of the inflammatory response.
How does the model mimic IBD conditions?
The microfluidic technology helps replicate diseased circumstances similar to those encountered in IBD by maintaining a controlled microenvironment with constant media flow and nutrient supply.
What components are included in the IBD model setup?
The following is the list of components included in the IBD model setup:
- Pressure controller
- Flow sensors
- Valves, a microfluidic chip
- Automated sampler
- Reservoirs
- Control software
What types of analysis methods are compatible with the collected samples?
Every sample collected from the system analysis using the most common lab techniques (assays), such as ELISA, Western blot, SEC, HPLC, and mass spectrometry, to identify inflammatory biomarkers.
Can the IBD model be customized for specific research needs?
Yes, our packs are fully customizable to fit your needs perfectly. Our specialists and researchers will help you choose the best instruments and accessories and accompany you during all the setup of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Model until you obtain your first experimental results.
