Soil restoration and microfluidics: a webinar – June 2024

Learn how to use flow control for soil research and soil restoration

What you will learn in this webinar about microfluidics for soil restoration:

This webinar will introduce you to the basics of microfluidics in soil research and microfluidic solutions for soil restoration. You will learn about examples of microfluidic soil-on-chip applications and gain interesting insights into the European research project EDAPHOS, which deals with soil restoration.

Would you like to use microfluidics for your research project on soil restoration?

Let’s start a collaborative project together!

How can microfluidics help with your project on soil restoration?

  • Enable high-throughput screening to detect soil contamination like pesticides, heavy metals, pharmaceutical residues and support soil restoration efforts.
  • Develop on-chip systems for microbiome composition analysis (bacteria and fungi)
  • Develop microbiome-based plant protection

What we can do as an SME partner for soil restoration:

soil restoration microfluidic innovation center MIC partnership project collaboration

The participation of SMEs is strongly encouraged in Horizon Europe projects as they are very competent to bring new innovations to the market. The MIC is specialised in microfluidic technologies: we can develop a perfusion system for your project to identify the bacterial or fungal strains present in the soil as markers of soil biodiversity, or to develop plant and soil protection solutions based on the microbiome of native plants (phytomicrobiome).

Several interesting calls are currently open under the Mission Soil in Horizon Europe.

Besides soil restoration, we are interested in contributing as a project partner to many different topics. As an SME partner in your European project, we can bring in all our expertise with a lot of experience in transferring great inventions from research to the market and to the end users, which is exactly what the European Commission is aiming for!

These are things we at the MIC are particularly good at:

  • Developing innovative instruments that are customized to your application, e.g. for soil restoration
  • Creating lab-on-chip systems for high-throughput fungicide and pesticide screening
  • Innovative systems for the isolation and identification of bacterial strains
  • Advice on the development and dissemination of proposals and support for the market launch of innovations.
