We were thrilled and fortunate to host a visit from our LifeSaver Project partners IDEA Consult.
The LIFESAVER project is building a microfluidic placenta-on-chip model to mimic the transport of substances across the placental barrier. We will use this in vitro model and a biodigital twin to address risk assessment of chemicals to maternal and fetal health in pregnancy.
We learned from IDEA more about the regulatory and policy landscape for risk assessment for pregnant women. From our end, we shared with them our perspectives on end users of the in vitro technology, which is gaining momentum as an alternative to animal testing.
