The Microfluidics Innovation Center: A unique structure in Europe

The Microfluidics Innovation Center was created by three entrepreneurial researchers in 2011 as the innovation and entrepreneurial business unit of the Elvesys group. We carry out collaborative research to create deeptech companies on European soil.

We have already created ten innovative companies that constitute the Microfluidic Valley today. In short, we are both an industrial research lab and a business incubator.

In 2023, we decided to become independent to fully exploit our innovative and entrepreneurial potential. In addition, in order to preserve our freedom to innovate and carry out our missions independently, we have decided not to have any investors – opting instead to stay as a tribe.

From prototype to deeptech start-up

We develop microfluidic prototypes as part of EU consortia to solve researchers’ problems.
At the same time, we test the market interest in these prototypes and transform them into products.
Once the business model has been established and the financing plan validated, we license the tech or create a new deeptech spinoff.

Culture

No routine; our job is to think outside the box. We are doers! We are always looking to innovate in ways no one else will. We have to cross oceans to fulfill our mission – and we stick together to face the storms!

At the MIC, we love the doers, the creative, the autonomous, the curious, and the team players. People who act rather than talk. Those who question themselves, those who want to live an intense and contrasting life, and, of course, those who bring pastries to the team.
